Is Milk Good for Kids?
Frank A. Oski, M.D., Chief of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine:
“At least 50% of all children in the United States are allergic to cow’s milk, many undiagnosed.” Dr. Oski has written the book, “Don’t Drink Your Milk – New Frightening Medical Facts About the World’s Most Overrated Nutrient.” Julian Whitaker, MD, founder and editor of the largest read health newsletter in the world, Health & Healing, writes regarding the myth that milk helps build strong bones:
“American parents pass this myth on to their children, and misguided nutritionists reinforce it. Actually, milk and other dairy products weaken the bones and accelerate osteoporosis. That’s right, consumption of milk causes the very condition it’s advertised to prevent.”Read the rest of the story
What’s the Alternative?
There are many options for cow’s milk replacement. Soy is the best known but there are rice and oat milks. There are nut milks such as almond milk.
Soy is known for its many benefits in the world of health and our favorite cow’s milk substitute is Tofu Moo. It is a soy product but since it is made from tofu instead of just soybeans, it is easier on the digestive system so nutrients are more readily assimilated. It contains no lactose or any milk by-product. It is white (most soy milks are beige in color), delicious, and a good source of calcium. One 8-oz. serving provides 50% of daily requirements.
