A NOTE FROM RANDAL
The day has finally arrived. I have the new website up. I have made lots
of changes during the time the last issue went out and now. I have more
work to do, but I wanted to get it up before this issue rolled out. Please
take a minute to look at our new site. The address is
https:///www.thefrugallife.com

Soon all the herb testimonies for people and pets will be located on the
new site. I am having to make this change because the FDA and FTC won’t
allow testimonies that mention disease names on a site that sells the
products. The Frugal Life won’t sell any products so I can easily have the
testimonies located there. Remember, I can’t have an actual link from the
new site to The Herbs Place. I can have a text reminder but no link.
Also, I want to ask you to consider signing a petition to Stop Porn Spam. I
hate SPAM but the porn I really detest. SPAM costs the internet industry
lots of money and it takes lots of time for me to get off of my system.
By the way, I have signed their petitions on various subjects and not had
any problems.

******
Please join the 28,228
who are taking a stand against the proliferation of
Internet pornography.
Click here to sign this petition to protect your families
and your children.
https:///www.grassfire.net/16/petition.asp?PID=2102543&P=1&storeid=1

Grassfire.net has launched a NATIONAL CAMPAIGN designed to
rally 100,000 citizens to stand united against Internet Porn
in the next 90 days. After the U.S. Supreme Court recently
struck down The Child Pornography Protection Act, it became
clear to us that our government lacks the courage to fight
Internet porn.

******
Once again, it has been my pleasure putting together this latest edition. I
hope you will monitor the new success stories as I begin to get them posted
on the new site. I have held off for some time not putting any testimonies
up that mentioned disease names. Now I have an outlet that will allow them
to be posted without any problems. That’s exciting to me!
Thanks so much for your continued support and encouragement.
Until next time,
Randal

HERB/VITAMIN NEWS
VITAMIN C & E MAY HELP HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENTS
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – The antioxidant vitamins C and E might help slow
artery disease in patients who have recently had a heart transplant, results
of a small study suggest.

Coronary arteriosclerosis, the hardening and narrowing of heart arteries,
commonly develops in the few years after a heart transplant. As methods of
preventing organ rejection have improved, the longer-range complication of
arteriosclerosis in these patients has taken on more importance, according
to the authors of the new study.

In their study of 40 heart transplant patients, daily treatment with
vitamins C and E helped to minimize the growth of artery-clogging plaque
over one year. Researchers led by Dr. James C. Fang of Brigham and Women’s
Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, report the findings in the March 30th
issue of The Lancet.

The study patients were also on cholesterol-lowering statin medication, but
the vitamins inhibited plaque growth “over and above” the effects of statin
therapy, Fang’s team reports. Patients who took cholesterol drugs and the
vitamins showed only slight thickening in their artery walls, while those on
cholesterol medication alone had more substantial thickening.

Antioxidants like vitamins C and E help neutralize the effects of damaging
forms of oxygen known as reactive oxygen species, and some research has
suggested antioxidants are protective against heart disease and cancer.
According to Fang and his colleagues, their results support the idea that
oxidative stress contributes to arteriosclerosis after heart
transplantation. Moreover, the results suggest “a potentially useful
therapy,” the researchers write.

Larger trials are needed to confirm these results and to see whether the
benefits of vitamins C and E in transplant patients persist over several
years, they add.

BODY CAN’T HANDLE DIETARY FAT IN VOLUME THROWN AT IT
Researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas have uncovered what
could be a key clue in tracing the connection between high-fat diets and
increased colon-cancer risk.

Their findings, published in today’s edition of Science, reveal that the
body’s natural mechanisms aren’t built to handle lithocholic acid, a toxic
byproduct of dietary fat, in the volume generated by high-fat diets.

HEALTH RELATED TIPS
WHEN SHOULD I TAKE “FRIENDLY BACTERIA”?
When should I take “friendly bacteria”? I have seen mixed responses on if
it should be with a meal or not. Personally, I subscribe to the 30 minutes
before a meal philosophy. Friendly bacteria is a bacteria. Many foods
today have antibiotics in them. Antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria
and they aren’t selective be it good bacteria or bad. For this reason, I
think it better to take the bacteria products 30 minutes before or an hour
after eating.

When you are taking bacterial products it’s best to not take any herbs or
nutrients either. Many times herbs or nutrients may actually have some
antimicrobial and/or antibacterial effects or there may be some of those
kinds of products in the base of the product you are consuming. For
example, Golden Seal is considered a natural antibiotic. This herb is often
found in many herbal combinations. Because Golden Seal and other Immune
System herbs are included in most of the other combinations its easiest to
take your bacterial products separate from food, drink, medicine or
nutritional products.
