A NOTE FROM RANDAL
Hi Everyone,
Hope your summer is going great and your not getting too hot. Please read
the article on dehydration it applies to your kids but to you too. Whenever
I took tennis lessons they always stressed you should take a “mandatory”
drink of water. This implies don’t do it based on your thirst. Often our
body won’t call for water until we are way too dry. Drinking the water
every time a game is over I never get dehydrated. If your out in the sun
drink plenty of water and don’t forget to replace your electrolytes.
A very good source of electrolytes is featured in our “Featured Product”
section below. Please take a moment to read the ingredients and the
benefits of this great product.
Thanks for all the person to person sharing you do about our ezine and our
website. We couldn’t do it without you!
Until next time,
Randal

STUDY FINDS SAM-e BETTER THAN DRUGS for DEPRESSION
A recent study released by the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services
concluded that natural S-adenosylmethionine (SAM-e) is as effective as
prescription antidepressants for supporting the body during mild depression.
Compared to placebo, SAM-e showed an improvement of approximately six
pooints (clinically significant) on the Hamilton Rating Scale of Depression
after three weeks of supplementation. SAM-e is not associated with the
negative side effects of prescription drugs, so it makes a better, more
natural choice. For the complete study:
SAM-e was also found to outperform placebo significantly in decreasing the
pain associated with osteoarthritis. Compared to typical medical treatments
(NSAIDS) for this condition, SAM-e performed quite favorably.
NSP offers only natural SAM-e, not the synthetic forms some other
manufacturers offer. Natural SAM-e is better utilized by the body. Read
more about Nature’s Sunshine SAM-e and/or purchase here:

CHIMPANZEES SHOW PREFERENCE FOR ORGANIC FRUIT – by Amanda Katz
Chimpanzees kept at the Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark are showing a preference
for the organic fruit now being offered to them.
“The chimpanzees are able to tell the difference between the organic and
regular fruit,” keeper Niels Melchiorsen told an Organic Agriculture
reporter. “If we give them organic and traditional bananas, they
systematically choose the organic bananas.” In addition, the chimpanzees eat
the skin of organic bananas, but peel the regular ones before eating them,
according to Melchiorsen.
Studies conducted in recent years have shown that rabbits, chickens and rats
also prefer organic food. Organic food expert Shane Heaton said animals may
sense that organic food has less pesticide residue and more nutrients.
Approximately 10 percent of the food the animals in the Copenhagen Zoo are
given to eat currently is organic. The Zoo intends to make one-third of the
food organic by 2005.

DEHYDRATION
Under normal conditions, we all lose some body water every day in our sweat,
tears, urine, and stools. We usually replace this body fluid throughout the
day from the water and salt content of what we normally eat and drink.
Sometimes, however, children lose abnormally large amounts of water and
salts through fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or long periods of exercise. This
is called dehydration.
In the most severe cases, they may not be able to replace this water simply
by drinking or eating as usual. This is especially true if an illness
prevents a child from taking fluids by mouth or if fluid losses are so great
(as with severe diarrhea) that the child cannot keep up by simply drinking
more often.
Recognizing Dehydration If your child is suffering from fever, diarrhea, or
vomiting, or is exercising you should watch for the following signs of
dehydration:

RECOVERY
Recovery helps the body stay hydrated and replaces certain elements that may
be used and/or perspired away during higher levels of activity. This drink
nourishes the body both during and after activity, as well as when the body
is recovering.
It also helps replenish liquid and electrolyte loss and helps balance the
acid level in the muscles during exercise to enhance the length and quality
of physical exertion.

CONSIDERING LASER EYE SURGERY?
While many clinics claim that the surgery is close to risk-free with
complication rates as low as one in 1,000, investigators found that as many
as one in 10 surgeries fail, making failed laser eye operations 100 times
more common than advertised.
