A NOTE FROM RANDAL
Hi Everyone,
I think the segment on laughter is very appropriate considering all the
stress we all seem to wade through daily. I have been reading a joke a day
for the last several months. I enjoy the time out to laugh and I know it
certainly doesn’t hurt. Just a suggestion, find some time each day for a
humorous moment, you’ll be glad you did.
Hard to believe October is here already! The year is almost over and I have
to wonder where it went. I am sure you are saying the same thing too. Make
your Fall a great one!
As always, we appreciate the sharing of our ezines and our websites to your
family and friends without your help we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Until next time,
Randal

MACA
Maca (Lepidium meyenii), a member of the radish family, addresses the needs
of the glandular system. It grows in the Andes mountains of South America
and may provide a natural means for improving sexual desire and performance.
It may also support physical and mental strength in both males and females.
Also known as Peruvian ginseng, maca may help enhance physical energy and
endurance, promote mental clarity and concentration and boost work capacity.
As an adaptogen, it helps restore stamina and buffer the effects of stress.
It also contains several flavones and flavonoid glycosides, which may
support the balance of female reproductive hormones.

START THE DAY WITH LAUGHTER
Abraham Lincoln always started cabinet meetings with a joke. One day when
he was being harassed by a heckler who proceeded to call Lincoln two-faced,
the president retorted, “If I’m two-faced, would I be wearing this one?”
Needless to say, the heckler had nothing more to say, and may have even
laughed!
LAUGHTER IS OFTEN THE BEST MEDICINE
Michael R. Wasserman, M.D., specialist in geriatric medicine states, “A few
years ago, I came down with pneumonia, pulled out videotapes of “I Love
Lucy” reruns and laughed myself back to good health. Clearly, humor and
laughter have a positive effect on one’s attitude and health overall. While
we don’t know all of the specifics, our immune system appears to benefit
from these emotions.”

MANY WOMEN ARE STARVED FOR SLEEP
By Janice Billingsley
HealthDay Reporter
Start with the stresses of work and family. Add household responsibilities
and perhaps worry about an elderly parent. Then factor in the hormonal
changes that come with being female, and it should come as no surprise many
women are shortchanged on sleep.
“There are very few times in a woman’s life when something doesn’t interfere
with her sleep. Sleep disorders are very common — and under-diagnosed — in
women,” says Dr. Meir Kryger, director of the Sleep Disorder Clinic at St.
Boniface Hospital Research Center at the University of Manitoba.
That’s not to say men don’t suffer from sleep problems, too. But women fall
into their own category of sleep deprivation, says Kryger, author of a book
on women and sleep that will be published next spring.
