A NOTE FROM DONNA
Having an online business sometimes makes you feel like there are no
weekends. When we get to feeling that way, we head out for a short trip.
Last weekend we drove up to Pennsylvania to see some family and to visit
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Beautiful views! Nice, but chilly, weather. It
was nice to get out of cyberland for awhile 🙂 Hope each of you has been
enjoying the Autumn colors and crisp air.
It’s the month of Thanksgiving! Count your blessings!

PURITY TEST FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
by Annie Berthold-Bond
Q: I have read that some essential oils are made with petroleum solvents. Is
this true? If so, how can I tell?
A: Essential oils, used for everything from insect repellents to
aromatherapy and fragrance, are very strong and need to be used with care,
but they can cause environmental health problems if the brand doesn’t
provide pure oils. Some oils have petroleum-based solvents added, which can
be very toxic. Petroleum-based solvents are often long-lasting in the
environment, are stored in our fat, and are a source of volatile organic
chemicals (VOCs) that negatively affect indoor air quality.
Do an easy blotting paper test to see if your oils are pure. Put a few
sample drops of your oils on a blotting paper. Pure essential oils will not
leave any residue once they have evaporated, whereas petroleum solvents
will.

MORE GOOD REASONS TO LOSE WEIGHT
Doctors have long known that obesity increases the risk of heart disease and
late-onset diabetes. But new research suggests that carrying around a lot of
excess weight may have a damaging effect on most facets of health, including
memory. A recently published university study reveals that overweight and
obese people reported slower cognitive abilities, increased pain and
decreased mobility at rates two to three times that of those with a healthy
body weight. https:///healthy.net/asp/templates/news.asp?Id=2369

CARBO GRABBERS for CARB JUNKIES
Amylase inhibitor from White Kidney Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), that
seemingly has the miraculous effect of rapidly inactivating the digestion of
starch in the human digestive tract. In studies this reduced after-meal
increases in plasma concentrations of glucose and insulin in test subjects.
This is a non-stimulant weight loss supplement since it suppresses the
conversion of starches to fat.
