LAVENDER TONER

Lavender is great for the skin. It used to be used in burn wards because it
aided the healing process and helped to lessen the scaring. Here’s a recipe
you can use to make your own toner without all the additional chemicals and
alcohol.

5 T. Distilled Water
5 T. Lemon Juice (juice a fresh lemon and strain it)
5 T. Witch Hazel (get the kind without alcohol)
4 drops Lavender Oil

Mix together in a measuring cup that you can pour from into an empty bottle
you’ve saved “to reuse one day.” Be sure to shake before using to disperse
the oil. Makes almost a cup.

PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM EPIDEMICS

Epidemics of parasitic infection from contaminated water and
of bacterial food poisoning from chicken or hamburger serve
notice that the U.S. food and water supply is not safe,
according to Leo Galland, M.D. Pesticides and preservatives
provide no protection from the current crop of microbes and
pose health hazards of their own. In the column “Eating
Safely in a Polluted World: You Don’t Have to Choose Between
Microbes and Chemicals!” Dr. Galland offers several simple,
effective measures you can follow to protect yourself and
those you love from the effects of eating contaminated food
and water–avoiding both microbial and chemical contaminants
in food and drink and building resistance to them if you are
exposed.

DELICIOUS LIQUID CALCIUM!

“I was excited about the assimilation factor of using liquid calcium, but
didn’t have much hope of continual use for myself. I’m so fussy about
taste. I was surprised to find that the taste is delicious! I actually
crave the stuff and since I take my calcium at bedtime for better sleep, I
have to wait all day to take it. I’m amazed that calcium can taste so good!
Although it’s passion fruit and mango flavored, I seem to taste raspberry in
there also.” Donna

NUTRITION CHOICE

VEGAN BAKED BEANS – Serves 4 to 6

1 lb. pkg. dried navy beans
cold water for soaking beans
mustard (your choice on type)
1/2 c. molasses
1 tsp. sea salt or Bragg’s Liquid Amino’s
1/3 c. honey
Smart Dogs (or any brand tofu hot dogs)
1 large onion, chopped, sauteed in extra virgin olive oil until slightly
brown

Take the navy beans and place them either in your crock pot or some large
bowl. Add enough water to cover the beans by 3-4 inches. Allow it to sit
overnight.

In the morning, (or whenever) drain the water out and rinse the
beans. Now add enough fresh water to cover the beans by about 1 – 1 1/2
inches. Put the crock pot on high all day.

Get all the other ingredients ready – slice the Smart Dogs into 1/2 inch
slices and get all the seasonings together. Now shut off the crock pot and
add all the ingredients. Stir well and let it sit for about 30 minutes to an
hour to allow the flavors to mingle. Then serve. (If you really want the
flavors to mix, then put everything away in the refrigerator when you’ve
finished cooking everything and take it out the next night for dinner.
