A NOTE FROM DONNA
We’re in Oklahoma City right now visiting our son and Randal’s parents. Do I
have to mention I’m having a great time getting to see our son 🙂 We’ve
been empty nesters for almost 3 years now. It’s a very odd experience and I
don’t know if you ever totally adjust. Since I was a home schooler, it
seemed my life revolved around our son for so many years that it’s hard to
figure out sometimes where I am in this season of life. LOL It’s great
though. I love change, so I’d hate to stay in the same season forever.
Speaking of seasons, I guess we’re headed into winter. The trees were about
bare when we left Virginia, so it will be awhile before we see those
daffodils popping up. Winter is a good time for inside house projects, so
I’m sure you could think of a few to keep the family busy. Don’t forget to
get out those games and puzzles and spend some family time around the table
instead of the tv too 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving!

HAIR GROWTH
Did you know that rinsing your hair with SAGE will help it grow? Pick some
sage from your herb garden (we moved ours indoors a month ago) and make a
strong tea. Pour off the “tea” into something you can use in the shower.
After you’ve shampooed and conditioned, pour the sage tea over as a last
rinse and rub into the scalp. Rinse briefly if desired and you’re done. Use
within the day of brewing for fresh quality and herbal potency.

USE ESSENTIAL OILS TO FRESHEN THE AIR
Make your own air fresheners for furniture, carpets, drapes, or bathrooms.
Add 20 drops of your favorite essential oil to a 16-oz. spritzer bottle. Be
sure to shake it as you use it and don’t spray on unprotected wood surfaces.
Choose refreshing and deodorizing essential oils such as Lemon Oil

Peppermint Oil: https://theherbsplace.com/Peppermint_100_Pure_Essential_Oil_p_47.html

If you like to use Lysol in the bathroom, try Tea Tree Oil instead:

BATTLE INSOMNIA the NATURAL WAY
An overactive mind or anxiousness can rob you of your ability to relax into
sleep. However, sedative herbs can calm the nervous system and allow you to
drift off.
VALERIAN, not to be confused with Valium, calms you, helps improve sleep
quality and reduces night awakening without causing addiction or sleepiness
in the morning. https://theherbsplace.com/Valerian_Root_p_451.html Valerian
A formula with the Valerian, Passion Flower and Hops is Herbal Sleep. This
gives you the synergism of combining herbs and a natural solution for
insomnia.
KAVA KAVA (Piper methysticum) has anti-anxiety, muscle-relaxing effects and
can be taken in low doses during the day, followed by a higher dose right
before bed. https://theherbsplace.com/Kava_Kava_Concentrate_p_416.html Heartworms

MSM/GLUCOSAMINE CREAM
Nature’s Sunshine MSM/Glucosamine Cream combines the nutrients of MSM
(methylsulfonylmethane) with the cartilage-strengthening properties of
Glucosamine to offer a nutritional cream for weary joints. This formula
contains 4% glucosamine HCl and 2% MSM in a naturally derived cream base
which aids absorption into the body.
MSM provides the body with organic sulfur – essential to structure of
several amino acids and proteins and is also known for its immune-boosting
and antioxidant properties. Studies show that low levels of MSM are linked
with physical stress, tissue and organ malfunction, fatigue and decreased
immunity.
Glucosamine is a building block of cartilage. Specifically, it helps form
proteoglycans which are water-holding molecules that help keep water in the
cartilage. An increase in body levels of Glucosamine increases the level of
proteoglycans in the joints, thereby supporting healthy cartilage.

NUTRITION CHOICE
GAZPACHO
One of my favorite summer foods is gazpacho, a chilled vegetable soup that
usually uses a tomato base. A mix between a salad and a soup, gazpacho is
remarkably cooling. It’s also very versatile — you can pack it in a thermos
for a brown bag lunch, or you can serve it as part of an elegant dinner.
