A book review of "Noni, Nature's Amazing Healer" by Neil Solomon, M.D., Ph.D. Published by Woodland Publishing, Pleasant Grove, Utah
Dr. Solomon is a New York Times Best-Selling Author, L.A.Times Syndication Health Columnist, CNN-TV Health Commentator, Maryland's First Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, and John Hopkins Trained Physician.
Noni is a fruit about the size of a potato and has nodules similar to those you see on a pineapple. It grows in abundance on the Morinda Citrifolia tree in the Tahitian Islands and has only been available to the public for the last two years. It has been successfully used for over 2,000 years in Polynesia, China, India and elsewhere.
Like Aloe Vera, Kelp, Papaya, Grape Seed Extract and other botanicals, the extract of the Noni plant has been demonstrated to improve a wide variety of health conditions. Dr. Solomon says, "During 1997 and 1998, I spent the majority of my time researching both the scientific and nonscientific evidence - case studies, reports from doctors and other experts, and clinical trials - involving the island fruit Noni to see if and how it works. I also interviewed more than 40 doctors and other health professionals who collectively had data representing over 8,000 patients who had used or were using Noni.
"As I was collecting this data, one of the questions that I continually came back to was: How can liquid Noni possibly help so many people with over 100 diverse health problems? 78% of the more than 8,000 Noni juice users reported that it helped in some way, aiding weakened immune systems and weakened circulatory systems. Also, weakened digestive system, over active immune system, weight problems and glandular system weaknesses.
"In addition 69% of the people who took Noni said that they would not give it up. The majority of people who did not see optimal results after taking Noni did not take Noni long enough or in high enough doses.
"Research indicates that Noni stimulates the immune system, regulating cell function and cellular regeneration of damaged cells. The fact that Noni seems to operate on the very basic and critical cellular level may explain why it is useful for a wide variety of conditions."
Noni is invaluable as a healing herb because of the following functions
• Helps maintain healthyt blood pressure
• Works with melatonin and serotonin to help regulate sleep, temperature and mood
• Increases body energy
• Has antibacterial properties that can protect against digestive and heart weakness
Nature's Sunshine's Nature's Noni Juice is good-tasting, like a tropical fruit, and can be mixed in water or other fruit juices, or taken by the spoonful.
