A NOTE FROM RANDAL
We are really enjoying the better weather, we have had lately, here in
Virginia. I am able to get out an get some exercise and play tennis more
often. Donna has been out walking on a regular basis with a neighbor
friend.
We have been real busy with making changes to our website and we hope you
enjoy them.
I have realized as I approach 50 that I am not getting the daily exercise
that I need. Being at the computer most days my fingers get a good workout
but not the rest of me. I do make an effort to get some exercise but not on
a regular basis. The article under Spiritual/Emotional really gets my
attention, like I am sure it will for you too.
We are currently at 2800 subscribers in this newsletter and the thanks go to
all of you that read our ezines and tell your friends. We are here to serve
you and we welcome your comments.
Until next time,
Randal

HEALTH NEWS
LARGER NUMBER OF AMERICANS NOW BEING TREATED FOR DEPRESSION!
Americans are three times as likely to get treatment for depression as they
were in the 1980’s, thanks to efforts to destigmatize mental illness and the
introduction of antidepressants with fewer side effects than earlier drugs.
Of those treated, the proportion taking antidepressants soared from
37percent to 75 percent between1987 and 1997.
Those receiving psychotherapy dropped from 71percent to 60 percent. Report
in last week’s Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers
attributed that decline to managed care, which is more apt to pay for drugs
than for talk. This despite studies showing talk therapy is as good as
drugs for mild and moderate depression.
The proportion of people receiving both drugs and therapy, most effective
for major depression, rose from 29 percent to 48 percent. But those who
most need help are least likely to get it, depression is more common among
black Hispanics, yet those populations are far lesss likely to be treated
than whites.

HIGH-POTENCY GARLIC
Recent technological breakthroughs have made it possible to manufacture
odorless garlic. The question is, does it retain the potency of fresh
garlic? Studies have shown that it does not.
NSP offers you the finest and most potent garlic on the market today with a
special coating that controls the garlic’s odor. When broken open, these
tablets have a strong garlic odor – unlike other ‘odorless’ garlic products.
Trade-secret processing and careful preparation of each tablet give NSP’s
high-potency garlic a special locked-in freshness coating that contains
chlorophyll, which controls odor while assuring a long, effective shelf
life.
Because the tablet does not break down for absorption until it reaches the
small intestine, you receive the full nutritional value of garlic without
the undesirable taste or burping.
Moreover, comparing total allicin potential with other leading brands, NSP
leads the pack. Grown in Xinjiang, China, and watered by pure subterranean
canals from the snow-capped Tian Shan mountains, NSP’s garlic is valued
above all others for its potency and superb quality.
One 400 mg. tablet equals 1200 mg. of fresh garlic, roughly equal to one
clove. That means one tablet a day is a power-punch!

SPIRITUAL/EMOTIONAL LINK TO HEALTH
HOW TO GET MOTIVATED TO GET MOVING.(exercise motivation techniques)
Author/s: Connie Jeske Crane
Vibrant Life – July, 2001
Even if you just aren’t “athletic,” you need to find ways to relearn the
exercise habit.
I entered adulthood with an image of myself as someone who does not “do”
sports. I figured there was a human divide and I was on the side with those
who discussed books and foreign films, sipped frothy drinks, and had pale
skin in the summer. In my mid-20s, after a few years at the computer, my
body started to protest my lifestyle. Headaches and neck pain were frequent,
and I sensed my metabolism slowing. I should mention that I wasn’t really
inactive, but I was passive. I never grasped the idea that physical fitness
was something I could take charge of for myself. As I got older, busier, and
less active, I began to envision layers of fat overtaking me in the coming
years, and yet I felt helpless to do anything about it.
