Nature's Sea Calcium (75 Grams)
Nature's Sea Calcium (75 Grams)
Discontinued Product
One of the most abundant minerals in the body, calcium is essential to maintaining optimal health. With a high bioavailability and natural alkalizing properties, Nature's Sea Calcium supports bone health and may help maintain normal pH levels.
Nature's Sea Calcium comes firom Lithothamnium. a hard, brittle species of algae found in the pure, mineral-rich waters off the southwestern coast of Ireland. This plant-sourced calcium also contains a bevy of naturally occurring trace minerals (up to 70) as well as magnesium in the ideal 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium.
This formula contains a proprietary blend of short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides, which, when converted to short-chain fatty acids by beneficial flora in the body, have been shown to improve calcium absorption.
Benefits
• Provides a good source of naturally occurring, plant-sourced calcium.
• May help the body offset acidity.
• Contains prebiotic fibers shown to help increase the absorption of minerals.
• Offers a calcium-rich option to vegetarians.
How It Works
Used by the body in a myriad of processes, calcium is most noted for its integral role in promoting bone density and health. Nature's Sea Calcium offers buffering capacity and may help in maintaining normal pH levels. Magnesium aids in the absorption and utilization of calcium in the body.
NSP (Nature's Sunshine) Advantage
Sea calcium has a large surface area because of a very porous structure, and this may contribute to an increased bioavailability. A non-animal product, it is a fantastic option for vegetarians and vegans. As the algae is left undisturbed, these plant-derived "marine minerals" are wholly renewable. We have also added short-chain fructooligosaccharides (scFOS) to the formula. scFOS serves as a food source for beneficial microorganisms in the intestines and has also been shown to increase absorption of minerals such as calcium and magnesium.1
Scientific Support
According to the Surgeon General's office, national surveys suggest that the average intake of calcium is far below levels recommended for optimum bone health. When body processes require more calcium than is available, the body can borrow it from your bones. Maintaining normal-range pH in tissues may also help preserve bone minerals. Proper calcium levels also have been associated with colon and cardiovascular health.
